Celebrates its Diamond Jubilee
ETNA – On Sunday, July 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the Etna City Park, the Scott Valley Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 60th anniversary with an ice cream social, 50s and 60s music, recognition of special guests and gifts for special ticket holders. Tickets for ice cream and cake are $1 each and are available from the following chamber officers: Lorrie Bundy, president; Dave Harrison, vice president; Marilyn Seward, treasurer; Gerry Silva, membership; and Ché usa Wend, who is heading up a planning committee. Present chamber members and relatives of the original Scott Valley Chamber of Commerce founders will receive free tickets. All ticket holders will be eligible for a gift drawing.
“Thanks to Ché usa’s Over the Hill email column, the chamber has received information about many of the original founders, but they are still searching for more,” stated a recent press release from Marilyn Seward.
Anyone having information about the following founders may contact Ché usa at firstname.lastname@example.org.The chamber is also trying to locate past chamber presidents who may still be living in the area, the release said.
The original founders, signing the charter incorporation papers dated March 19, 1952 included Joe Roberts, Gleason Balfrey, Eddie Edgecomb, Margaret Wallace, Frank B. Branson, Otto Brogger, R.G. Morris, Harry Collar, Don Avery, Bernard Walker, Joseph Marconi, Vallie G. Vanarsdell, Ken E. Burton, W.R. Miller, Harry M. Bryan, C.R. Willard, Barton E. Booth, Ernest Smith, R.A. Walker, Thomas S. Potter, Claire M. Potter and Margaret Pullen.
